Office of Mission Support

What is the Office of Mission Support?

What does a diocese look like in a burgeoning apostolic age? This is the question that has framed our discernment in how to build out a team in the diocese that fruitfully supports our priests, parishes, staff and laity alike in our shared efforts of growing disciples. To further root our offices in this vision, we have formed a new office called the Office of Mission Support. This office continues the good work of what was formerly the Office of Evangelization and Faith Formation, seen through a different lens. We believe this model sets us up to be more fruitful, resourceful and collaborative and sees the parish community as the “ordinary place for evangelization” and primary vehicle by which we can grow disciples.

It is not therefore a matter of inventing a ‘new program’. The program already exists: it is the plan found in the Gospel and in the living Tradition, it is the same as ever. Ultimately, it has its center in Christ himself, who is to be known, loved and imitated, so that in him we may live the life of the Trinity, and with him transform history until its fulfillment in the heavenly Jerusalem.
— St. John Paul II
