PEORIA, ILThe central Illinois portion of the National Life Chain will be linked from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, October 4, on sidewalks along University Street.

The Peoria Life Chain, characterized by silent prayer, will stretch from the city’s abortion clinic at 7405 N. University, past churches and schools, to the Metro Centre, which is 12 percent owned by Washington state’s Planned Parenthood, the Northwest’s largest destroyer of life in the womb.

Life Chain is a peaceful and prayerful public witness of pro-life Americans standing for one hour, praying for our nation and for an end to abortion. It is a visual statement of solidarity by the Christian community that abortion kills children and that the church supports the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception to natural death.

Similar events will take place at more than 1,700 locations in 1,500 cities across the United States and Canada.

Signs will be distributed at the center of the Life Chain at the corner of University and Northmoor near Richwoods High School and St. Vincent de Paul Grade School starting at around 2 p.m.. Church groups are encouraged to sign up earlier to fill blocks along the route by calling Dan Smith at 691-3611.
