Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Peoria, is a ministry inspired by Christ’s love and care, committed to serve Christ’s Mystical Body by upholding the dignity of each person and serving each individual as we would serve Christ Himself, advocating for a just and compassionate society according to our Catholic Social Teachings of the Church; and encouraging others to join us in fulfilling our mission.
How can you help?
Catholic Charities has always had a mission focused on the Corporal Works of Mercy: to feed the hungry, to give drink to the thirsty, to shelter the homeless, to clothe the naked, to visit and ransom the captive, and to visit the sick.
Advocacy is also an important aspect of Catholic Charities mission. We serve other individuals, meeting them where they are at, fostering an awareness, speaking out, and encouraging others to do the same.
Catholic Charities is currently on the lookout for people (or groups) with time on their hands! It doesn’t matter if you have just a few hours to spare for a one-time project or are looking for a chance to help others every week, here’s how we can use your help:
Food Pantries: We currently have food pantries in Peoria operating on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Baby Pantry: Our baby pantry in Peoria is open on Tuesday afternoons, but we could use help all day.
